At heart, I'm a nostalgic person. I'm the one pulling out the old photo albums at a family party, lingering on the pictures nobody posed for, the moments we didn't even realize were happening, but are so glad we have frozen in time. To me, that's the magic of photography. It doesn't just show you a day; it brings you back to it.
My mom, an avid scrapbooker, captured every milestone of my growing up- but she also meticulously preserved the mundane parts too- my first crush, a cute new outfit grandma sent me, my science fair project (that didn’t win)- for years I would roll my eyes at these pages, until they became some of the most special memories. “To be seen is to be loved” . She noticed everything, and I think that’s what makes those moments so special- when I was caught up in the big deal stuff, she was too- but she didn’t miss the little things either.

I approach weddings much like my mom approached her scrapbooking- yes, of course the beautiful key moments! But also never underestimating the smallest details- the quick kisses, a wink across the room, a tear being wiped away. It all matters to the story of your wedding day.
While I didn’t start with weddings when I first picked up a camera in high school, it didn’t take long to understand what made them so exciting to shoot: weddings combine all the things I love about photography- light, color, love, your story and your vision- each one containing it’s own beautiful narrative. When you combine light and love, you get photographs, which hold within them more feelings and memories than we could ever possibly store up in our minds. Photos are proof that this really happened, that joy was truly felt, and we can return to it whenever we want to.
